Mastering the O’pen Skiff: A Training Camp Experience

Now for something a little different!

Over the past ten days, I had the incredible opportunity to be part of a training camp on Lake Garda with a talented mix of young sailors from India and France, all focused on mastering the O’pen Skiff. It’s a unique class of boat, designed to be agile and challenging—perfect for honing skills in speed, tactics, and adaptability. This trip offered a refreshing connection with grassroots talents, and I couldn’t be prouder of the dedication and energy each sailor brought to the water.

From intense mornings working on speed drills to afternoons analyzing tactics and refining maneuvers, the team pushed themselves to new limits. The hard work paid off in the EUROCHALLENGE event in Campione, where the squad not only showed tremendous growth but also achieved standout results. A special shoutout goes to Antoine, who dominated in the U17 fleet and brought home a well-deserved win! 🏆 His focus and resilience made all the difference on race day, and it was inspiring to watch him take the top spot.

This experience was a reminder of why I love working with young sailors—their passion, drive, and openness to learning is contagious. From here, it’s only onward and upward as we set our sights on new challenges and keep the momentum going. Excited to see where these young talents go next, both on and off the water!

Stay tuned for more updates on our journey, and as always, keep sailing forward!
